Since we came into the world, we are attracted downwards to the center of the hearth by the force of gravity. As children we learned to live with it, we began to push in the ground to lift our heads, then to take the first steps on all fours crawling, then finally we reached verticality. And we can maintain it during the day, thanks to the sense of balance that we have developed and to a constant and unconscious muscular control.
During the seminar we will doubt our sense of balance, and we will experience what happens when we abandon ourselves to this force for a few moments. To the quality that gives the afford a constant sense of imbalance while we move.
We will also let go of our control over the partner, so that it can influence our dance.
Through the constant exchange of weight we become a single moving system composed of two entities.
This allows us to experience weight exchange as a continuous flow rather than an occasional event that allows us to save energy during movements and during flights.
All levels of experience are welcome.

WHAT IS CONTACT IMPROVISATION
Contact Improvisation is an improvised dance form based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their motion: gravity, momentum, inertia. The body, in order to open to these sensations, learns to release excess muscular tension and abandon a certain quality of willfulness to experience the natural flow of movement.
Contact improvisations are spontaneous physical dialogues that range from stillness to highly energetic exchanges. Alertness is developed in order to work in an energetic state of physical disorientation, trusting in one’s basic survival instincts. It is a free play with balance, self-correcting the wrong moves and reinforcing the right ones, bringing forth a physical/emotional truth about a shared moment of movement that leaves the participants informed, centered, and enlivened.
