Dance Ecosystems

Workshop
Theather in the Woods - Rovinsko celo, Rovigno, Croatia - Show map
From 13/07/2017 to 16/07/2017

Hi everybody,
we invite you to spend 4-beautiful days in the Croatian coast side with the exploration of our inner ecosystem that are reflected back through nature.

PROGRAM

Dance Ecosystems in an creative self expression and body-mind orientated retreat, that will invite you to explore your own physical, psychological, mental, emotional and environmental systems that influence your sense of being and perception.

We will focus on the environments, and how natural laws and different elements influence our movement and dance, help us to move, react and embrace our inner world. This topic will be explored through Contact Improvisation, Somatic Practice, BodyStorytelling approach and Aquatic water bodywork.

In an ecosystem everything is interconnected, we will play on the relation between us and the environment to keep the dancespace open and connective relational oriented.

What is AQUATIC WATER BODYWORK

We will integrate in our practice also Aquatic Bodywork, so we will play with the floating quality that open us up to new movement possibilities and new ways to relate to the world.
Starting taking consciousness and explore the water element, we will start discovering it from a different point of view. Then we will dive into this new world, where gravity and time have have another meaning.
And like proficient astronauts we will sense the joy and the pleasure that the water element can give us.

What is CONTACT IMPROVISATION

Contact Improvisation is an improvised dance form based on the communication between two moving bodies that are in physical contact and their combined relationship to the physical laws that govern their motion—gravity, momentum, inertia. The body, in order to open to these sensations, learns to release excess muscular tension and abandon a certain quality of willfulness to experience the natural flow of movement. Practice includes rolling, falling, being upside down, following a physical point of contact, supporting and giving weight to a partner.

What is BODYSTORYTELLING

BodyStorytelling is an approach, that connects our psychological aspects (such as beliefs, inner images about ourselves, values etc.), our emotional body and our present moving experience while dancing, moving, interacting or just witnessing others.
The main purpose is to bring more awareness into our body sensations and with soft presence observe what is the source of our movement. How can that be resonating with our every-day life experiences and behaviour.
We want to open the doors for expression that is playful and unforced. During this movement improvisation, we explore our sense of self, of our body, emotional and mental balance, focus attention (that can be directed differently towards ourselves or the environment) and explore our perception of the space and our understanding of it.

What is SOMATIC PRACTICE

A somatic practise is a journey into what we use to call "body", a journey in wich we are both the explorers and the land we immagine to explore. A somatic practise gently relate to the present moment in order to experience a creative and prolific dialogue between ourselves, the others and the environments we're living in. Every living-being has its own direction, a rythm, a living cycle, a vibration, a texture, tendencies to slip or to join: each different movement creates the shapes and therefore the functions of our body-architecture.
